Prevail Bank shreds 31,000 pounds of paper, donates nearly $12K

Medford, Wis.-based Prevail Bank collected and shredded more than 31,000 pounds of paper as part of this year's community shred days. .According to the bank, the amount of paper is enough to save 263 days and 31 barrels of oil. The paper is equivalent to the annual power usage of nearly eight average-sized homes.."Sustainability and building a better tomorrow for our customers and the next generation are important to us," said Prevail Bank President Nathan Quinnell. "Working together to pursue what's possible is what Prevail Bank does best." .Prevail Bank also donated a dollar for every pound of paper collected, up to $1,000 per location — nearly $8,900, while the public donated more than $2,800. .The donations were presented to nine Wisconsin nonprofits: .Wisconsin Rapids-based United Way of South Wood & Adams CountyOwen-Withee-based W-O-W Kids MealsBaraboo-based People Helping PeopleMarshfield-based Soup or Socks Food PantryMedford-based Taylor County Health and Human Services for suicide awareness and prevention programmingEau Claire-based The Community TablePhillips-based EmbraceStevens Point-based Plover River Crossing Project-Green Circle TrailWausau Metro Adult Special Olympics."These funds will save lives, feed the hungry, arrange protective services for domestic abuse survivors, and other positive and profound impacts for hundreds of northcentral Wisconsinites," according to the bank.
