Sturgis Bank in Michigan recently announced several promotions. .Nathan Matkin to senior vice president, commercial lender. Hired as a commercial lender in 2017, Matkin was promoted to vice president four years later. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from Grand Valley State University, Allendale, Mich. Leanne Brownfield to VP, business development specialist. Brownfield, who has 15 years of experience in banking, joined Sturgis Bank in 2020. Jason Riemens to VP, commercial credit manager. He joined the bank in 2020 and has 20 years of experience in financial services management, commercial lending and credit analysis along with retail management. Riemens has an MBA in finance from the University of Michigan-Flint and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo. Matt Vizthum to VP, commercial loan portfolio manager. Vizthum, who joined Sturgis Bank a decade ago, was promoted to credit analyst before being named a commercial loan portfolio manager. Vizthum graduated with a bachelor’s degree in organizational management from Spring Arbor University in Spring Arbor, Mich. Sturgis Bank also announced four assistant vice president promotions, including Sarah Bartz and Natalie Brazo to AVPs and mortgage originators; Mike Mortimore to AVP, commercial credit analyst; and Stacey Smith to AVP, branch manager.Sturgis Bancorp, Bank name chair, vice chairSturgis Bancorp and Sturgis Bank announced new board leadership, including local business owner Michael Frost as chair and Keene Taylor as vice chair. Frost succeeds longtime Chair David Franks. Frost has been vice chair since April 2022. Taylor, who joined the board in March 2022, has 30 years of experience in banking and is knowledgeable about the west Michigan market. “[Frost] helped guide the Bank through executive leadership transitions, the exponential growth we have experienced over the past five years, and challenges such as COVID,” said Jason Hyska. “We are grateful that he will remain on the board.”
