Longtime University of Wisconsin-Madison Graduate School of Banking teacher Thomas Alan Farin passed away last month in hospice care at the age of 80. .Farin taught for 35 years at the Graduate School of Banking. A member of the curriculum advisory committee and founder of GSB’s financial managers school, he also owned Farin & Associates, a Madison-based software development company specializing in banking systems, from 1986-2018. Before becoming an entrepreneur, Farin worked for The First Wisconsin National Bank of Madison from 1971-81, beginning in human resources before serving as ATM coordinator. He then moved into retail banking, where he led a team of personal bankers. Born Sept. 16, 1945, in Charleston, W.V., Farin graduated with an agriculture economics degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
