Intercity State Bank CEO to retire as merger looms

Schofield, Wis.-based Intercity State Bank CEO Randy Balk plans to retire at the end of this month. .The bank named Chris Pfender regional president, effective March 1. Pfender, who has nearly 25 years of community banking and accounting experience, has been executive vice president of Intercity since 2017. .Balk's retirement comes as $2.8 billion Intercity State Bank prepares to merge with Dane County-based One Community Bank.
