Michigan City, Ind.-based Horizon Bancorp appointed Larry Magnesen as an independent director on its Board of Directors..Magnesen, who serves on the Horizon Bank Board of Directors, has more than 40 years of experience in banking. He is the retired senior vice president and corporate communications director at Fifth Third Bank, where he was chief reputation officer and chief marketing officer. His career also includes leadership positions at Old Kent Bank, Banc One Ohio Corporation — now part of Chase Bank — and Citibank.Magnesen holds a bachelor’s degree from Carthage College and a Master of Management from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, with concentrations in Marketing and Finance.“Larry’s extensive leadership experience at one of the nation’s leading regional banks enables him to provide valuable insights to Horizon’s Board at a pivotal time in our growth,” said Thomas Prame, chair and president of $7.7 billion Horizon Bank and CEO of Horizon Bancorp. “His deep banking knowledge and understanding of our core markets will add value as we continue building Horizon’s Midwest franchise.”
