Community Bankers Association of Kansas President/CEO Shawn P. Mitchell will retire at the end of this year..Mitchell joined CBAK in 2009. He is credited with helping the association increase membership penetration to 43 percent from 24 percent despite consolidation, having added nearly 50 new members since 2009. He also reportedly completed more than 2,200 bank visits, and led the purchase of the association’s first owned office debt-free. Mitchell was 2015 national chair of the Council of Community Bankers Associations, and has testified before Congress on behalf of the Independent Community Bankers of America. Before he joined the association, Mitchell was president and CEO of Farmers & Merchants State Bank, vice president of Bankers’ Bank of Kansas, and vice president at Bison State Bank. The Community Bankers Association of Kansas is searching for Mitchell’s replacement with the Independent Community Bankers of America.
