Fargo, N.D.-based Bell Institutional Investment Management recently announced its chief investment officer succession plan. .Greg Sweeney, who has led the institutional investment team for 21 years as chief investment officer, is transitioning into his new role as chief investment and economic strategist as he prepares to retire in the coming years. Zac Wanzek, who has been deputy chief investment officer since 2021, is becoming CIO.Sweeney has nearly 40 years of experience in financial services, including 33 with Bell. Wanzek joined Bell Institutional Investment Management in 2012 as a portfolio manager, and has been deputy CIO for the last four years while also serving on two Institutional Investment Management committees. Before joining Bell, Wanzek spent several years in public accounting, and was a consultant for insurance companies and other financial institutions. “This is an exciting evolution for Bell Bank Wealth Management and Bell Institutional Investment Management,” said Patrick Chaffee, Bell executive vice president for banking, wealth management and insurance. “Zac and Greg’s partnership and expertise will help drive Bell Institutional Investment Management’s growth for years to come.”
