Paul Waltz, chief operating officer of First American Bank, Clive, Iowa, has been elected chairman of the SHAZAM, Inc. board of directors. Waltz was elected for the two-year term by nearly 1,000 member/owners in the SHAZAM network and began serving his term on August 14.. Waltz joined the SHAZAM board in August 2002. In August 2005, Waltz was elected secretary/treasurer until 2007 when he was elected vice chairman of the board. Crabtree, a Chartered Financial Analyst, is a graduate of the University of North Dakota. He joins Craig Mueller and David Stieber in the company's Financial Institution Group. . Brian D.J. Boike has been named treasurer of Flint, Mich.-based Citizens Republic Bancorp. He is to succeed Martin E. Grunst, senior vice president, treasurer and principal accounting officer. Grunst accepted a similar position with another company. Joseph C. Czopek will take over as principal accounting officer.. Boike has worked as an asset/liability manager at the company since 2005. He will be responsible for managing the company's balance sheet, capital, funding and liquidity. Boike has a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and a master of arts degree in political economics from Boston University. He has completed doctoral coursework and field exams in economics and became a Chartered Financial Analyst in 2007.. Czopek has been the company's corporate controller since July, a role he will retain in addition to his new duties, which include SEC reporting and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Before joining the company in March, Czopek had been the chief financial officer of Ace Holding Company and Ace Mortgage Funding, Indianapolis. He has a bachelor's degree in accounting from DePaul University, Chicago, and a master of management degree from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill.. Anthony Vuoto was named general manager of U.S. Bank Retail Payment Solutions, which comprises consumer and small business credit, debit, prepaid and specialty card businesses, as well as the bank's retail payments innovation unit. He succeeds Pat Coll, who retired in September.. Vuoto has more than 25 years of domestic and international financial experience. He had been with Washington Mutual, now JP Morgan Chase, where he was president of the card services division. Vuoto had been with Washington Mutual since the 2005 acquisition of Providian Financial, where he served as chief financial officer. His experience also includes 12 years in leadership positions with Citigroup, including president of its private label card business and general manager of its German credit card business.. Wenzl was recently inducted in the Iowa Bankers Association's 50-year banker club and was able to attend the award luncheon in spite of his illness with cancer. . Thomas A. Rosenquist, a director of Midwest Banc Holdings, Inc., Melrose Park, Ill., who died suddenly at his home in Maui, Hawaii, at age 58. He had been the owner of Lake County Grading, a trucking and excavating company based in Libertyville, Ill.
