Iowa bank announces Texas expansion

Montezuma, Iowa-based Capra Bank expanded into Texas by opening a branch in Lubbock on Sept. 25. .The branch is the $140 million bank's first in Texas and third overall, joining its two Iowa offices in Dubuque and Montezuma. .Thirteen bankers will staff the branch, including President Greg Garland; six senior vice presidents; four vice presidents; and two assistant vice presidents. According to the bank, the opening is intended to ease the loss of community banks caused by numerous consolidations. ."Over recent years the national and Texas banking landscape has evolved and consolidated resulting in the acquisition of community banks and loss of personal service," the bank stated. "Capra Bank seeks to serve Lubbock as a true community bank providing banking without compromise by offering industry-leading technology for consumers and businesses with personal service and a local team." .According to the Southeast Iowa Union, Capra Bank was established after Lynn "Tut" Fuller of Dubuque acquired Montezuma-based Peoples Savings Bank from brothers Mike and David Arendt. The Iowa Division of Banking approved the application in July 2022, and Tut took control in mid-September 2022. The bank was officially renamed as Capra Bank in February.
