Gate City Bank donates more than $250K for Giving Hearts Day

Fargo, N.D.-based Gate City Bank donated more than $250,000 to Giving Hearts Day charities. .The donation increases the amount of total giving over the last decade to $2 million. Since 2014, Gate City Bank has partnered with Giving Hearts Day to help 300 charities and has matched all team member donations. .This year, Gate City Bank also pledged $50,000 through its annual Giving Hearts Day nomination contest to The Rape and Abuse Crisis Center. The nonprofit offers confidential crisis advocacy, counseling, education and crisis intervention to people impacted by sexual and domestic violence. The award will help to grow the team's 24-7 team of advocates for people who are struggling in the aftermath of such violence. More than 150,000 entries were reportedly submitted, bringing the bank's total nominations to over 823,000 since the partnership began. ."At Gate City Bank, we wholeheartedly believe in giving back to the places we call home — because it leads to a better way of life," said President and CEO Kevin Hanson. The nonprofit, once a pop-up food pantry, became a permanent hunger relief program in 2021 in West Fargo, N.D. .The bank pledged $100,000 to the Fargo Police Department for its Badges of Unity Fund. The donation will help Fargo Police send local first responders and family members of fallen police officer Jake Wallin to Washington, D.C., this May for the annual National Peace Officers' Memorial Service, during which Wallin and other fallen first responders will be honored. Wallin was killed in the line of duty last summer while responding to a crash. .Gate City Bank also donated $10,000 to Fargo-based nonprofit Hope Blooms, which provides repurposed flowers for those in need.
