St. Paul, Minn.-based Sunrise Banks and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines will award $122,500 to eight South Dakota-based nonprofits. .The grants, from $8,750 to $43,750, are through the FHLB Des Moines’ Member Impact Fund. The groups authorized two $43,750 grants to South Dakota nonprofits:GROW South Dakota, which provides housing, education and economic opportunities throughout the state. Dakota Resources, which connects capital and capacity for rural communities. Six of eight recipients received $8,750 grants: Caminando Juntos. Founded more than 20 years ago, the group helps local Latino immigrants. Four Bands Community Fund, which looks to change systems and expand equitable opportunities in homeownership, small business and financial security for Native Americans. South Dakota Native Homeownership Coalition, which looks to increase homeownership for Native Americans along with workforce development for housing authorities, housing entities and Native contractors. Great Plains Housing Initiative, which provides housing opportunities for native Americans through development and financing.Lakota Funds, which advances economic sustainability for the Oglala Lakota Nation through lending, financial education and asset building.
