Fargo, N.D.-based Gate City Bank is again hosting an annual nomination contest for Giving Hearts Day. .One charity will receive $25,000, and the bank is hosting a food drive to collect nonperishable items for food pantries. Last year’s food drive collected 3,851 items. The nomination period lasts through Feb. 4. “Giving Hearts Day is all about generosity and community,” said Gate City Bank Senior Vice President of Culture Amanda Torok. “We’re thrilled to give people the opportunity to support the causes they care about and amplify their impact with this gift.”Giving Hearts Day, launched in 2008 as a charity fundraiser through Fargo-based Dakota Medical Foundation, is a 24-hour fundraising drive for charities in North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota. The bank has donated $2.2 million and supported 300 charities through Giving Hearts Day since 2014. Community members have submitted nearly 1 million charity nominations.
