Fargo, N.D.-based Gate City Bank donated more than $500,000 to local schools and colleges through its My School Spirit program. .The program was launched more than a decade ago and allows checking account customers to customize their debit cards with designs from more than 70 colleges and high schools. The nearly $4 billion Gate City Bank then makes a one-time, $10 donation to the participating school when the customer orders their first related debit card. North Dakota State University received the largest donation, with more than $14,000 given last year and more than $150,000 since the program was launched in 2015. “Every debit card ordered represents pride in our hometown teams and a meaningful investment in students’ futures,” said Kim Settel, chief retail banking officer at Gate City Bank.
