Lynnville, Iowa-based First State Bank is donating more than $17,000 to area schools this year through its Spirit Debit Card program..The program allows customers to select debit cards featuring their school’s logo and colors, with the bank donating part of every transaction to the corresponding school district. Funds are intended to support classroom projects, extracurricular activities and other educational needs.This year’s donations were to Agency Cardinals, BGM Bears, Grinnell Tigers, Lynnville-Sully Hawks, Montezuma Braves, New Sharon–North Mahaska and Sully Christian.“This program is a simple way for our customers to make a meaningful difference in their communities,” said First State Bank President and CEO Steve Russell. “Everyday purchases turn into real dollars that go right back to local schools.”
