As BankBeat looks at the last one-and-a-half centuries of the American Bankers Association’s contributions to the financial industry, it makes sense to also look at some of the oldest banks in the nation. Some of these banks were founded before the ABA and were part of the impetus for the trade group. After all, without banks, there would be no need for an association.
