Jefferson City, Mo.-based Hawthorn Bancshares is acquiring FSC Bancshares, Cameron, Mo., for $28.3 million. .The deal is expected to be completed in the third quarter of this year and add $384 million in assets along with nine branches to the footprint of Hawthorn Bancshares in northern Missouri. FSC Bancshares is the holding company for Farmers State Bank. The combined bank will have $2.2 billion in assets, $1.7 billion in loans and $1.9 billion in deposits. “We are pleased to partner with Farmers State Bank as we continue to execute on our strategy of disciplined growth,” said Hawthorn CEO Brent Giles. “Farmers has developed strong customer relationships and a respected community presence that align closely with Hawthorn’s values.” St. Petersburg, Fla.-based Raymond James & Associates was financial adviser to Hawthorn Bancshares, while Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP, Little Rock, was legal counsel.
