Brookfield-based First Missouri Bancshares recently acquired Liberty, Mo.-based Clay County Savings Bank..The merger was effective July 28, growing Verimore Bank’s footprint in Liberty, Kansas City and Kearney, Mo. By acquiring the $137 million Clay County Savings Bank, the $600 million Verimore Bank now has the second-largest branch network in Clay County, with eight branches in four Northern Missouri counties. “This merger combines complementary strengths — Clay County Savings Bank’s deep mortgage expertise and Verimore Bank’s expanding commercial, agricultural and retail offerings,” according to a press release. “With a shared dedication to personalized service, the partnership creates a more versatile and responsive banking option for customers and businesses throughout the region.” Verimore Bank is renovating two former Clay County Savings Bank branches. The work is expected to be completed this year.
