The FDIC approved a deposit insurance application for Augustus National Bank, a Dallas-based newly chartered national bank..Augustus National Bank plans to provide deposit and lending services to digital asset firms, high-net-worth individuals, artificial intelligence and technology companies, and international financial institutions. The bank received preliminary conditional approval for a national bank charter from the OCC in May. The bank plans to issue a stablecoin through a subsidiary if approved as a permitted payment stablecoin issuer under the GENIUS Act. It also plans to offer stablecoin-related services, including issuance and redemption of partner stablecoins, custody, conversion and payment functions.The FDIC said the bank met the statutory requirements for deposit insurance approval, subject to certain conditions. The approval expires if the bank is not established within 12 months, unless the FDIC grants an extension.
