Alpine Banks of Colorado board members Linda Childears and Steve Briggs plan to retire following the conclusion of their terms next year.

Briggs, who joined Alpine Bank in the 1970s and became one of its earliest management trainees, is credited with spending 45 years helping grow the organization across the Roaring Fork Valley, which is one of the wealthiest regions in the country.

Briggs was branch president in Basalt and Snowmass, Colo., and helped establish the bank’s Aspen, Colo., branch in 1990. Elected to the board in 1982, Briggs also played a role in several community organizations, including the Aspen Chamber of Commerce, Aspen Medical Foundation, Neighbor to Neighbor and The Buddy Program.

Childears joined Alpine Bank’s board in 2020, bringing decades of banking and nonprofit leadership experience. She previously served as president and CEO of the Daniels Fund and Denver-based Young Americans Bank, as well as having held executive roles at other Colorado financial institutions.

Alpine Banks of Colorado is a $6.8 billion, employee-owned financial institution founded in 1973 and headquartered in Glenwood Springs.
