Port Washington State Bank in Wisconsin appointed President James S. Schowalter to CEO.
Schowalter, who has 23 years of banking experience, has spent the past 20 of which in roles in credit, operations and executive leadership. He’s been president of the more than $1 billion bank for the past six years and has been a member of its board of directors since 2015. Schowalter is the fifth generation of his family to lead the bank.
Schowalter succeeds his father, Steven Schowalter, a 58-year banker who was president from 1989-2020. In 2020, James Schowalter was named president, while Steve kept his role as CEO. Steve Schowalter, a 58-year banker, is expected to remain executive chair of the bank’s board of directors as well as president of Port Washington State Bank’s holding company, Port Bancshares.
